Gesture Input Interface For Mobile Devices (Video)

Researchers at the University of Tokyo have developed a prototype input method for mobile devices that can detect the position of the user’s hand in 3D space. This builds a platform for gesture input, translating finger movements into mouse-like tracking and clicks. While at this point, it’s less functional than touchscreen interfaces, the system is laying the groundwork for more advanced gesture-controlled devices that can be projected anywhere.
